Sometimes I'm in the shower, sometimes I'm chopping celery, sometimes I'm thinking about god, and my wife says, "What is that clever tune you're humming, man of mine?" and I reply, "Well, that's Scott Brookman's 'A Song For Me, A Song For You,' can you please move aside so I can wash the soap from my eyes and rinse the celery," and she says, "Can we go listen to '(Don't You Want To Know) The Way It Feels To Lose?'" and I ask, "What are you getting at? I'm blind!" and then I hum 'Lemon Lane' while wondering how she can speak in parentheses but I let it go, because all is well again when I hum his songs. I shit you not. Scott's songs have the smallest carbon footprint in comparison to other artists, especially since they only exist as files that have no mass or other pesky physical properties. I keep finding his lyrics in my family's piano bench. And do come to Roanoke to see the neon star, and while you're at it, be inspired by Hale's restaurant in beautiful Montgomery County, Virginia, near where Brookman's own grandmammy and grandpappy used to live!
